๐ฎโ๐จ Very Bad News ๐ฎโ๐จ
We are sad to say that we are cancelling our participation in GSoC 2023.
We realize this will be disappointing for many of you who already started investing precious time and energy into Replay because of the program.
We ultimately made the decision to cancel our GSoC 2023 participation because we concluded that we do not have the bandwidth to provide the kind of mentorship opportunities we would aspire to. You have probably noticed, we have not been as responsive on PR reviews, Issue comments, etc as we should have been. What is worse is that many of those already existing PRs will likely not get merged, as our devtools team is too small and too busy with mission-critical tasks.
Our fear is that, if we are having problems fielding relatively straightforward questions, it would be that much harder to effectively mentor a couple folks doing innovative research. Moreover, without being able to spend time with all of you now, we worry that it would be difficult to fairly select any number of folks to the program even if we could provide a great mentorship experience.
We can imagine that this decision is disappointing to hear. And we are deeply sorry to have made this decision. We are always around and if you would like to remain involved and understand that our response times could be slow or would like to help on the community side mentoring new comers weโd be greately appreciative, but we want to be clear thatโs not our expectation.
